The Fermentation Project
Taste four fermentation processes side by side in a global coffee experience from James Hoffmann and Lucia Solis.
The Fermentation Project is a global tasting event created to explore how fermentation changes the flavor of coffee. The project centers on coffees from Guatemala, processed four different ways to highlight how intentional choices at the fermentation stage can shape sweetness, acidity, aroma, clarity, and overall character in the cup.
The project brings together James Hoffmann, coffee fermentation consultant Lucia Solis, and Caravela as the origin and global distribution partner. Solis brings deep experience in microbiology, fermentation science, and coffee processing, while Caravela supports the project through its producer relationships in Guatemala, green coffee sourcing, quality control, export operations, and global logistics.
The live tasting event is scheduled for Saturday, October 3 at 9am CST. Roasters around the world will be sharing their versions of the same project coffees, giving coffee drinkers a chance to taste along and compare how fermentation affects flavor across a shared global experience.
